I offered Alan Parsons the song, one of few that I have already written. The Band title exists, but not the song.
I offered it on the basis that I though Alan would enjoy the thought that the City of Chicago sued Chicago to have their original name changed. We wondered if the City would try to sue him or myself.
What I offered Alan was to write on command, not just to provide ditties as they were conceived. Alan's work is most often a collection of songs on a theme and that is a different type of songwriting. I don't pursue songwriting, it is not an ego boost for me, as it is for many.
Songwriters are the most surprising writers, I think. A very good example is Joe Walsh of the Eagles. Initially, the band relied on Jackson Browne, and as they flourished so did their songwriting. Glenn Frey and Don Henley did not have a songwriting history. Don Felder did, and he is one of my favorites. But the other three took to the craft and a lot of their most popular work is Joe Walsh's.
I like when Parade does popular culture. It appears (at least to me) that it garners more attention than articles on individuals.

Incredulous as it may seem, this is all I can find on what was, in the 60's through the mid 70's, one of Phoenix's landmark institutions and a objective lesson in marketing.
Steakhouses have been an mandatory stop on the rotation of the gastronomic excursions in Arizona for centuries. They are slowly fading, not in favor of other fashions, but mostly due to dietary concerns. Chuckwagon fare, a western staple is loosing it luster.
The Rusty Nail could serve them up as well as anybody, but that wasn't the attraction. They got your interest at the door and it never stopped, even after you left the restaurant. It you wore a tie into the restaurant, they promptly cut if off. They cut it off with the biggest pair of scissors you ever saw, and they made sure everyone in the restaurant knew about it. Then they ceremoniously nailed it to the wall with a -you guessed it-a rusty nail. It was a favorite trick of the locals to bring a suited up tourist into the restaurant and watch them suffer the loss. They didn't just get some cowboy for the duty, they made sure a couple of bright attractive cowgirls were on hand to administer the initiation. It worked every-time. It was never-a-dull-moment, even at the hostess's podium. There was never a twenty minute wait for service. They brought your drinks and promptly brought you bread and salad, and then-they took your order.
Steak, any kind, any way you wanted. If you didn't want steak they wanted to know why.
They weren't entertaining vegetarians. Order a hamburger if you wanted, but it was steak-or-
you could have the Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. That was $20.
They brought you a loaf of white bread, a jar of peanut butter and a jar of grape jelly,
and a dull knife. Good luck with getting a refill on your drink.

My maternal grandparents 'Retirement Villa' I have often quipped. Around 1970 on Lake
Havasu California. Before the London Bridge was moved from London to the Arizona Side.
My Grandfather was a Ma Bell Pioneer in Lafayette Indiana, and then moved west to
Banning California where he tired of the crime and congestion and fled to Lake Havasu.
My visits there were punctuated by fishing on the lake in the morning and my grandfather's
worldwide dominance of the Amateur Ham Radio waves. Anything and everything was game
for him and I would listen for hours as he discussed current affairs with his friends. He broadcasted worldwide for most of his adult life. He instilled in me the sense of using radio to
use my imagination. When Indy came around every May, the home was silenced and we all gathered around the radios to listen to Tom Carnegie call the qualifying and race.

Red light, green light.
Two factors
1) Utah has a mixed system of left turn lights, sometimes before
the general green, and sometimes after. This creates confusion.
2) The Monte Carlo is 17' long. I Had 4 car lengths to make an
emergency maneuver (68'). In less than 2 seconds I braked
and calculated the distance between a head on collision with
oncoming traffic and a glancing blow on the left turning vehicle.
( I turned to the left slightly to avoid a direct impact, but
not so far left to collide head-on with oncoming traffic. )
I made a successful emergency maneuver.
A direct collision would have resulted in greater force.
By deflecting the impact and spinning the vehicle, I
reduced the force of impact and lessened the damage.
I cannot say I had these skills ten or fifteen or twenty

Employing decorum and the subject of Carlos Sanchez is an oxymoron in itself. One must confine their utterances to expletives that will most certainly be censored by the press, whom invented the term 'the jackal'.
Suffice to say; when a mentally deficient individual such as Sanchez personally threatens persons in the employ of the CIA - is left to capture by the FBI - and continues to roam unfettered about Europe in a gleeful road trip of carnage until he is haplessly captured is an edifice to the gutless decisions exemplary of a carefully conceived boardroom conference.

Vicious Argument
I aced every English class I ever enrolled in.
I took a health ed. class in college to fulfill a requirement and the instructor (coach) asked for an essay. I delivered an essay on
Jack LaLanne (accusing him of being 'juiced'). He wrote me an F on the essay and I took him to task.
Among the marks against me on the essay was the use of And at the beginning of the sentence. I threatened to take the essay to
the school administrators, and was regraded with a B+.
The Point being:

Oxymoron of the Day
If literal treachery needed an oxymoron, this article out of the LA Times today would fit
the bill. Not that I read the article. Au contraire, like the politicians they disparage, they wish
to be paid for their opinion. I am allowed only ten articles a month from the LA Times, after that
the publisher is under the belief that I must pay for an on-line subscription. That's LALA Land.
Consider that the newspapers shouldn't be collateral damage, they should be targets. Consider
that the American press itself should be stalked, like the paparazzi they gleefully support with
late night photos of starlets caught in a twenty-something lovers triangle. Consider that there
is not just one, but dozens of parking garages for every newspaper. Consider that Pulitzer and
Hearst and Graham were not the hero's of free speech they claim to be, but greedy industrialists
bent on warmongering and hate speech and emotional claptrap in the name of profit. Consider
that similar to Hollywood's support of the drug culture; the media supports and pays for leaks.

Subjugation
Subjugation. The Republican Party's only asset.
There were 112 deaths associated with the construction of the dam.[70] The first was J. G. Tierney, a surveyor who drowned on December 20, 1922, while looking for an ideal spot for the dam.[70] The last death on the project's official fatality list occurred on December 20, 1935, when an "electrician's helper", Patrick Tierney, the son of J. G. Tierney, fell from an intake tower. Included in the fatality list are three workers, one in 1932 and two in 1933, who committed suicide onsite.[71][72][73] Ninety-six of the deaths occurred during construction at the site.[70] Of the 112 fatalities, 91 were Six Companies employees, three were BOR employees, and one was a visitor to the site, with the remainder employees of various contractors not part of Six Companies.[74]

Ethikos
The Greek word for ethics.
The usurpation of authority, or the appearance of an attempt is the bain of politics and government; it defines the debate and determines the outcome. Can there be a concise debate on a course of action (or inaction) without it? Perhaps, although rarely in public.
I was surprised and delighted by this column. Timing like that leads me to believe Danica Patrick would be left at the starting line with a deer-in-the-headlights look from which she would never recover.
I would recommend that you refer back to my essay 'Mass Acceleration'. Social media is the delinquent in the equation, not the leader. Voters are sheep, not wolves.
An 'official' government network would eliminate the need to capture attention.
Those with ethics and concern for their government, those with the experience and wisdom to know the importance would have a distinguished venue.
Why compete with a media out of control?
