If you live in America and are wondering what happened to your Dakar Rally coverage,

this happened.  NBC Sports Network sent their top motorsports journalist, namely one

Robby Gordon to cover the WORLDS MOST IMPORTANT Rally.  After wrecking and rolling his support vehicle and injuring two of his support team - NBC dropped the coverage and went into hiding.  Americans can rely on the Dakar site and you tube for any decent coverage.

Having endured endless hours of tear laden drama over the Coverage of Sochi a year and a half ago, I can hardly wait for more crying and complaining about Rio this summer.  Will there be no end to the damage NBC can do to modern sports?

Note to NBC:  Pizza boards are just a few dollars, and still cheaper than sending

                       a real network crew.

* Low Hanging Fruit:  Former INDYCAR CEO Randy Bernard's comment about Indy's

loyal following... Funny, the fans are still there and Bernard's not.

Takata Airbags use illegal 20 year old to send stern warning

to residents of rural Texas.

A  20 year old named  Mario  (seriously)  was transporting air-bag cartridges for a contractor to Takata Airbags when he went off-road in Eagle Pass Texas and exploded the cargo, killing a homeowner, and injuring other motorists.

Seriously -  they gave a TRUCKLOAD of air-bag cartridges to a 20 year old.

Applied Physics - Advanced Course

Every professional driver has a bag of tricks.  The bigger the assortment, the greater the driver.

Keke mentally calculates weight distribution by the millisecond, as do I.  Add the timing and

reflexes necessary to complete the maneuvers without excess oversteer (losing control) and

you begin understand how to recognize truly brilliant drivers, with a innate understanding in Physics.

This is a portion of the bag of tricks, in particular, at 8:40 - the [ overbrake/oversteer/overtake ] is a brilliant and calculated

maneuver.  Besides myself, I have seen very few ever accomplish this, and I did it in a passenger vehicle.

Brilliant work.

The reason you don't see this in today's F1 is the length of the wheelbase.

A longer wheelbase increases the turning radius and the change in the

center of gravity distorts the timing of weight transfer.
